Last Kiss (Poem)

It's a heart-pounding, palm sweating, knee shaking moment,
Two Hearts close for the first time.
The batting of eyelashes, fluttering.
Pounding of the distant drum, fading slowly,
As the crack of metal sounds
Sliding, without control.
Then the blistering silence hangs over us,
Cold, unwanted, and dead.
Warmth sliding past my eyes,
The smell of rust, so suffocating.
Darkness flickers, immobilizing its victims
A final breath.
The distant drum beating one last time.
A whispered love is its final beat,
Leaving "goodbye" to stay behind.
