Going Back in Time

I was born in 1993.
My childhood was filled with amazing and original times. When I take the time to think back about my childhood, I realize that my interests haven't quite changed in the past 1000000000 years (I know that I am not considered "old" yet). The trends in life have also changed dramatically and to me, they have changed for the worst. Clothes, Toys, Television Shows, Music, and Family Values have all gone down hill but luckily for me, I keep them alive in my heart and I try to pass them along. And if that doesn't work, I can always force it upon people. I can just reminisce with others who appreciate the good times in the 90's or 80's too.

Don't I look stylish with my cute dress and hat :3

A few months ago, I had a conversation with Jessie (name change) and we were talking about how children nowadays like to listen to pointless love songs that have tasteless lyrics. I used Justin Bieber as an example and she became furious that I didn't like him (as she was holding a JB bag). I tried to ease the tension by talking about the Backstreet Boys and how I used to plan my wedding with Nick Carter. The blank stare on her face made me feel like I was over 80 years old. What made it worse was when she asked me "Who are they?" -.- I grabbed my phone and began to play my favorites like "I want it that way", "Show me the Meaning of being lonely", and plenty of others. Her final exclamation not only put me to silence but forced me to turn around and walk away. What she said before I completely shut her her out was "Oh my mom listens to them all the time!".

Backstreet Boys, I would definitely go complete fan girl for them...even now!

Don't get me wrong! I have grown to love a lot of different styles of music from the 21st century, i began listening to country, techno, hip-hop, R&B, Rap, Classic Rock, and everything else (except Heavy Metal) and I have a majority of those songs on my phone. I just have a greater appreciation for the originals and the soul-lifting lyrics of the past music. In a way, the music now kind of killed the heart-quenching feeling you get when a song plays but i suppose that most of those moments are made when the emotions are present during the song play. Id you understand what I mean by all of that.

A few hours ago, my mother and I were looking for a doll that my mother had wanted when she was a little girl. The dolls were from Fisher Price and their names were "My friend, Mandy" or Jenny, Becky, and Mickey. The stars in her eyes when she saw them was heart-breaking. I imagined what her feelings were like when she saw them as a little girl with so much hope and affection. Unfortunately, my mother's sister and cousin were each given one of these dolls and my mom didn't get one. She wasn't jealous to a point of anger but she wanted one badly, she just didn't say anything. Maybe for her birthday she will get a surprise ;) only if I can prevent her from buying them herself..which is a challenge within itself.

This got me thinking: "What did I love as a child?"
I used the Internet (Which I didn't have as a child and when I did get it, it was alllllll dial-up -.-) and found many different things that I was interested in as a child:

Television Shows
  • Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers
  • Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles
  • X-Men
  • Talespin
  • Clarissa Explains it All
  • Darkwing Duck
  • Gargoyles
  • Dinosaurs
  • Doug
  • Rupert
  • Where in the Wolrd is Carmen Sandiego?
  • Batman

  • Bill Nye: the Science Guy
  • TONS MORE!!!!!
Toys
  • Barrel of Monkeys
  • Legos
  • Candy Land
  • Furby
  • Tamagochi
  • Beanie Babies

Clothes and Celebrities
No matter how old I get, the memories from the 90's will always be better than whatever society tries to throw at me. It's like watching the sequels of movies...the first one will be better than the rest of them about 99% of the time.>>>

VHS? Yeaa, I STILL rock those!!! Can't break them unless you repeatedly step on them or cut the tape, unlike the flimsy DVD's with their "don't touch my backside" attitudes haha *I made a funny*

MAN, I MISS THE 90's!!!!
